army kids

The YMCA Storer Camps invited the Army National Guard and kids who have parents that are currently serving in the military to the camp. The kids got a chance to see what it is like for the parents who are serving in the military by trying on camouflage uniforms, eating MRE’s, and going through a “mock” training.

My dad was in the Marines and he gave me a warm-up uniform that he had when he was in Korea. Unfortunately my dad was about 150 lbs when he was in the military and would have only fit me when I was in 9th grade. I tried wearing it for a while, but I ended up letting Liz wear it but until I lose about 25 lbs.

I feel older than dirt. I remember your dad's uniform in Korea. He seemed so built to me then. The uniform must have shrunk. That's got to be it. I love your pictures of the kids. You really have a talent for capturing the moment.
