Traverse City, MI Engagement // Lauren & Jon

This session was so much fun because Lauren and Jon are such an amazing couple. When the session was over Lauren said to me, “My top 3 moments of the night were 1.) When you (Dan) and Jon held hands, 2.) thinking you (Dan) were going to show Jon how to pose by posing with me and 3.) trying not to get my dress wet. I can’t tell you how happy I am that I will be with them during their wedding next month.

Glen Arbor, MI Engagement // Brittany & John

Ever since I started to talk to Brittany on the phone about her and John’s Traverse City wedding next August, I’ve been super excited to meet these two. Hawaii: The Babymoon & The Debt Free Vacation

As many of you know, Liz is 20 weeks pregnant, so we planned a little vacation to Hawaii. Around the same time, my brother and sister-in-law became debt free, so a little celebratory vacation was in order, don’t cha think!?

To simply put it, Hawaii was amazing.The weather was great, the scenery was spectacular, the food… Don’t even get be started on how great it was. We spent five nights on The Big Island in Kona, then two nights on Maui. The first couple of days in Kona were spent laying on the beach, snorkeling, shopping downtown and paddle boarding. We then hopped in the rental Jeep and went to Waipio Valley to concur a crazy, steep, windy and narrow road. At the bottom, a two track the led across streams and to black sand beaches along the Pacific Ocean. I will say the views were pretty spectacular and it was cool seeing all the wildlife. Then we went to the most southern point in the continental US on our way to the Hawaii Volcano National Park. At the park, we hiked through volcanic craters, rainforests, old lava tube and saw two active volcanoes, (no running lava though).

Then we were off to the island of Maui where we spent a few nights at a nice resort. While Jay and Britt stayed at the resort for a beach day, Liz and I took our minivan on the road to Hana. The trip is about 52 miles, which can take about 2.5 hours to drive when you don’t stop. Well we did stop at the waterfalls, overlooks, roadside stands and beaches so our trip ended up being about 9 hours long. We passed over 59 bridges, 46 of which are only one lane wide. There are approximately 620 curves, most are hairpin turns and blind corners. It was a bit scary at times but we made it back.

I’m looking forward to the day we go back with our little family.

If so, you are the man for us!” I pulled this line from the the first email I had received from Max and Michelle. From that point on, I knew that my time with them was going to ROCK! I can’t wait to see this two again in June.

Amanda and Jeff are what you would call awesome people. In the short amount of time I got to know them during their engagement session in Traverse City, they left me eager to photograph their down state wedding in November. They love to laugh with each other, mess around and have a good time. I’m looking forward to seeing these two again in a short seven months.

Adding Father to my Resume

Liz and I have talked about having kids long before we got married back in 2009. We always knew that one day we would become parents and that it would be the greatest privilege in our lives, well the time is here. As of 15 weeks ago, Liz is officially pregnant and due one day before her birthday on September 23, 2012.

I still find it hard to believe that there is a little boy or a little girl growing inside of Liz’s stomach right now. It didn’t actually hit us until we saw the little baby in Liz’s first ultrasound 4 weeks ago. Now that Liz has a little baby bump, I occasionally find myself pressing my face against her belly, telling our baby how much I love them and can’t wait to meet them. I also tell Liz that it’s not fair that she gets to carry the baby all the time, she assures me though that I can hold our baby all I want when she delivers.

We are extremely excited to be parents and to enter this new stage in our lives. We just pray that we can be as good as parents as the ones that raised us and that God continues to bless us and watch over our family.

PS My wife is a HOT pregnant lady!

Traverse City, MI Engagement // Elena & Andrew

Over the weekend Elena and Andrew came up to Traverse City to get their engagement photos taken. When we scheduled the session a few months ago, I was hesitate of what the weather was going to be like in mid March. To our surprise, it was sunny and 80 degrees. I couldn’t believe it. Elena and Andrew will be tying the knot this July, be sure to come back then to see photos from their amazing Suttons Bay wedding.

The Inn at Bay Harbor Bridal Show

If you’re wondering why I have been absent from the blog for about a month, it’s because I was preparing for a bridal show at The Inn at Bay Harbor. My goal was to make a rememberable experience for the brides and thanks to my awesome wife Liz, we created something unique and true to my style. We wanted to create an environment where people could come to the booth, sit down and really take the time to look at my work. So I rented furniture from Charitable Resale, Then & Now Antiques and Joie de Vie to create such a setting.

It was a unique experience and it turned into a nice weekend. Looking forward to being part of the fun again next year.
