Every wedding season I offer a six month assistant wedding photographer position based in Traverse City, Michigan. Your primary role as an assistant wedding photographer position will be to second shoot during weddings. You will build a portfolio of photos from your time with me and, like any internship, learn the techniques and skills in different areas of photography including: weddings; senior portraits; engagements; and family portraits. You will also learn about many “behind the scenes” aspects of photography including post production, album design, work flow, client presentations, advertising, and marketing. This is a paid internship, wage depends on attitude and experience.

Here are some requirements in order to apply for the assistant wedding photographer position:

1. This position is not for a “photographer”, it’s for a visual storyteller.
2. I’m looking for a laid back person who is easy to get a long with.
3. Each applicant must show in their portfolio how they’ve documented 10 weddings. Please DO NOT send me a Flickr Photostream or a random Facebook album. I’m looking for a collection of your images that highlight your work.
4. Each applicant must own a DSLR camera and be proficient in its use. Canon 5D Mark II or better is required. Canon DSLR users you will have a selection of lenses you will be able to use.
5. Must be available on all Fridays, Saturdays and some Sundays, May through October.
6. Applicant must live within a 50 mile radius of Northernwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.
7. The assistant wedding photographer position allows flexibility in learning “behind the scene” post processing.
8. Each applicant must have a valid driver’s license.
