Sports portraits
Over the last month or so I got to take the photographs of the “Player of the Year” in each of the Spring Sports. I used one flash and all except for the baseball portraits I was holding the flash in one hand while my camera was in the other. There were a lot of times I would find myself tangled up trying to find the best place to put the light. Sometimes there would be someone walking by and I would ask them to hold the flash for me. Overall I think they turned out alright and I think I am going to use this technique during the fall when I am taking senior portraits. Breaking tradition, oh yea!

The only post production was correction for white balance, exposure and added contrast. Everything else was shot in camera. Thanks!
Great photos! The cloudy skies are very dramatic -are those as shot with some tweaks thrown in, or were the clouds added in post processing? When someone combines talent with time and effort the results are impressive.
I really dig the runner and the baseball dude. Nice light, very moody.
Dan, way to go. These look fantastic. My personal favorites are the first and second images. These are great portraits.
these look good, dan! the first, second, and fourth ones are especially nice. that golf one is pretty sweet, too. i wish i was gonna be a senior this fall so you could take my senior pictures. but anyway, these are awesome! keep working hard!
Dan you know how I feel about lighting. Amazing by the way, you must teach more.
More cowbell??? Naaahhh, more light!!
