If you’re wondering why I have been absent from the blog for about a month, it’s because I was preparing for a bridal show at The Inn at Bay Harbor. My goal was to make a rememberable experience for the brides and thanks to my awesome wife Liz, we created something unique and true to my style. We wanted to create an environment where people could come to the booth, sit down and really take the time to look at my work. So I rented furniture from Charitable Resale, Then & Now Antiques and Joie de Vie to create such a setting.

It was a unique experience and it turned into a nice weekend. Looking forward to being part of the fun again next year.

Yes people do get married in the Winter up here in Northern Michigan. Was it cold? Yeah a little. Was it beautiful even though we’ve had an on and off Winter? Absolutely! Erika and Corey had a beautiful day with their close friends and family. I am filled with joy for these two and they kept Matt and I smiling the entire day. A happy couple makes me a happy photographer.

The Best of Mike Murphy & Dan Stewart

It’s hard to believe that yet another season of weddings has officially passed. Though this pass season was filled with many great moments shared with wonderful couples, there is a member of my team that I will miss greatly, Mr. Michael Murphy IV. Let me give you a little background on Mike. Last year at Paul & Nikki’s wedding, Mike approached Matt and I, and started to talk to us about wedding photography. I told him that I offer an internship every year that if he were interested, he should apply for it. Then I told him to scram because I had work to do. Several months later, Mike contacted me expressing his interest in the internship, he applied and by golly he got it!

Though out the season Mike always had a eagerness to learn. He was constantly asking questions and trying new things. I would always have tasks for him to do and he would always do them without hesitation. The prefect example was the time I told him to dance with Mother of the Bride because the groom went missing. Ok that didn’t really happen, but if it did, Mike wouldn’t hesitate, he did whatever it took because he was a team player.

It’s amazing to see how much Mike has grown as a photographer through out the season. I’m going to miss having him around, but he is off to bigger and better things. Though I’m losing Mike as a photographer, I’ve gained him as a friend. Go get em’ Mikey!

Below are some photos from this passed season that Mike and I would take of each other. Most of the time I would ask Mike to stand somewhere to test my lighting, I wouldn’t ask him to make goofy faces, that’s just Mike for ya. You will also see some photos of Liz, my Motion Booth operator.

Traverse City, MI Wedding // Zach & Amy

Over Thanksgiving weekend, Zach and Amy came from the warm climate of Southwest to Traverse City, Amy’s hometown, to get married. It was a special celebration with only their close friends and family sharing in this wonderful moment. Well folks, this is the last wedding of the 2011 Summer season, what I like to call “The Regular Season”. It’s hard to believe that another year has passed, but it was truly an honor to be a part of twenty nine couples lives this summer.

Ever since I met Aaron & Sarah at Tim & Laura’s wedding last year, I’ve been excited to photograph their wedding. These two have so much love and joy in their relationship, they’re the kind of people that make your face hurt from smiling so much. I’m so happy that I got to know this family through the marriage of Tim & Laura and Aaron & Sarah. I could go on and on about how awesome this family is, but to sum it up, they’re just great. This wedding was definitely a great way for me to end the regular season. Congrats to the happy couple and may God bless your marriage.
