Hilltop Wedding in Northport | Kailey + Trevor | By Luke

“I woke up knowing that whatever happened that day, I would get to marry my best friend, and that’s all that really mattered.”

Getting married, in and of itself, is one of the most special things you can do.  Being able to get married in a place that you and your spouse both have childhood ties to, makes that experience even more so!  Kailey & Trevor reunited with their friends and family in their old stomping grounds of Northern Michigan.  “I will forever be grateful that we were able to get married in Northport. We both have so many great memories in the area from growing up (our grandparents both have summer homes, mine in Northport and Trevor’s in Suttons Bay nearby) and it is one of the most effortlessly beautiful places… even when it rains!”  And rain, it did!  That didn’t stop anyone from celebrating the way that they should though.  Nor did it stop the ceremony.  As Kailey recalls, “Walking down the aisle and saying our vows… nothing beats the moment of knowing that you are making a very important promise to the person you love the most. Walking down the aisle I was trying to savor the moment and see my family and friend’s faces because I knew as soon as I saw Trevor I would start crying.. and I did! It wasn’t nerves, just lots of happy tears because I was so excited!”

Wedding days have the sneaky tendency to fly by, and before you realize it, the day is over (thankfully that means you have to the rest of your lives together to look forward to!), but Kailey knew the value of taking it easy, and taking it slow. “I made a point to try to be mindful and savor each moment- at one point while Brittany was doing everyone else’s hair I stepped out into the backyard garden and sat in the sunshine and prayed. I am so grateful for those moments!  A funny moment is, after Brittany set my hair in curlers, I decided to head back to the reception site to help finish setting up. I will never forget the look on everyone’s face when I showed up in curlers! I wanted to be a very down to earth bride, and that meant helping to set up, which was important to me. I did get a few looks driving there though.. ha!”

Kailey & Trevor, getting to spend the day with the two of you was more fun than you realize.  Not just because there was lots of laughter, but because it was truly a joy to watch you two come together (in the rain!).  Congratulations!
