Old Mission Peninsula Engagement | Randi + Chris

“Randi and I met when I was volunteering at the soup kitchen and the animal shelter next door caught fire, I saved her from the burning building. And the story wrote itself. Really we met online, but I prefer to tell people the former.”

No matter how the two met, Randi and Chris were meant to be together from the beginning. “We really consider our first date the day we met. It was an unforgettable night out on the town. Chris took me to Seven Monks and after the initial ice breaker, we ended up meeting up with some friends of his and hanging out for awhile. We were having so much fun together that we didn’t want the night to end when his friends were ready to call it a night, so we walked around downtown and then he took me to the casino. It was one of the few dates I had been on that we both didn’t want to end.”

The night after Randi met Chris, she went to a wedding with her family. “I remember them asking about what I had been up to lately and having the biggest smile on my face as I told them I had met someone. This time it felt different to me, and honestly it was. Chris has always been so completely sure of me from the very beginning, even though we are complete opposites.” It did not take long for Randi to realize Chris was the one she wanted to spend forever with.

As Chris began staying home more than staying on the road for work, he began to see he would do anything just to spend another minute with Randi. “Soon after Randi and I had went out a few times, I ended up in Ohio. Which then I found myself sneaking off early on Fridays to come home and spend my weekends with Randi. I’d leave at the latest possible moment, driving a red eye back to Ohio Sunday night, just to do it over again the next week.”

It was only a matter of time before Chris was down on one knee asking Randi to be his wife. “The morning of, Chris told me we were going for coffee and a hike on the trails behind the commons. Completely oblivious to what was going on, I wore a flannel (even though he suggested I wear something “cuter”) and brought our dog. After getting coffee, Chris suggested we head over to the botanical gardens. When we got to the building, we walked around a little bit and Chris offered to take a picture of our dog and I so we sat down together…”

As Chris was preparing for the big moment, attempting to make sure all the working parts were in order, he got down on one knee. “I told Randi how much I loved her, and Oaklee our dog, too.” Much to Randi’s surprise, Chris proposed in the middle of the beautiful botanical gardens.

“Afterwards, I found out he had a photographer hiding that was taking pictures of the entire thing. I couldn’t have been more surprised and honored that he planned something so special.”

Randi and Chris love to explore together, wether it be around the beautiful town they live in or beyond. “I’d consider us novice foodies and avid seekers of wanderlust. We’ve backpacked the upper peninsula in October, explored Jamaica together where we lounged on the beach and snorkeled with stingrays, and adventured through Kentucky and Tennessee where we explored mountains and waterfalls with our pup.”

Congratulations Randi and Chris!
