“We were in Iceland. We rented a car and decided to drive around the Southern coast with the intention of making it to some glaciers at the southern tip of the country. We drove past some incredible waterfalls and would stop and hike around for a bit, then get back in the car and meander down the road some more. About half way through the drive we both kind of realized that we didn’t really want to be in the car for any longer, and it was getting really foggy, so we stopped off in a small town to walk around and eat some lunch. We walked through a field of lupine, which was gorgeous, and ended up at this black sand beach that looked out at these huge basalt columns in the ocean. Michael then got down on one knee and fumbled around in his backpack and pulled out a ring. I don’t remember at all what he said because I was basically waiting for him to stop talking so I could say yes!”
Lily and Michael met in Chicago back in 2012. “I always felt like we really just clicked from the start. I can’t think of one specific moment where I knew that Michael was “the one”. It was more of an accumulation of small moments and just building a history and a life together. I couldn’t imagine starting over or doing that with anyone else.”
Whether they’re playing music together, or taking their dog, Iris, out for an energetic walk, or cooking a huge breakfast on the weekends, Lily and Michael are just happy to be together.
