Black Star Farms Wedding | Rachel + Cayce | By Luke

01/26/2018

“Our wedding was eight years in the making. We had survived years of long distance and cross country moves to build a life together in Colorado. In that time we became each others best friend, largest supporter, and partners in life.”

Though Rachel & Cayce grew up about 200 miles apart from each other, they both had one thing in common, Northern Michigan.  “I grew up in Columbus Ohio, but spent a lot of time on lake Michigan as a child. Cayce grew up in Detroit and was on a boat with his family every weekend. Although we currently live in Colorado, we wanted to get married somewhere on the lake close to our families. What better place to do it then Traverse City. It was the perfect choice for our Michigan, Ohio, and Colorado guests. They got to experience the lake and have amazing wine. What more could you want!”  Distance never seemed to have any effect on the outcome of their relationship, so it comes as no surprise that planning a destination wedding was a task easily achieved for Rachel & Cayce!  “We didn’t see our venue, Blackstar Farms, until two days before the wedding. I was in law school the year that we were engaged and we could not squeeze in a trip up north from Colorado. Therefore, we relied on our families to pick the venue, and it turned out to be absolutely perfect. The vineyard and barn was the rustically romantic setting that we were hoping for.”

After years of stewing and brewing wedding plans, their big day had finally come. “There were no nerves the morning of our wedding, just excitement and happiness. Although it was unseasonably, and even uncomfortably warm, we both quickly forgot the temperature. We couldn’t wait to see each other, and celebrate the next step in our lives together. We got to share that moment with our closest friends and family that have supported us along our journey.” The rest of the day went about as perfectly as you could imagine.  From preparing, to marrying, to eating and dancing, the day was full of laughter and love, but there were certain parts that stuck out the most to Rachel.  “The moments that we spent alone together were truly special and will be cherished by us both forever. The first look was the moment when I got to see my husband for the first time. I remember thinking how lucky I was to get to spend the rest of my life with kindest and best person I had ever met. When he turned around and saw me not only did he look incredibly handsome, but he had the biggest smile I’d ever seen. It was a moment of pure joy for us both.”

Congratulations Rachel & Cayce! I am beyond ecstatic for the both of you and can’t wait to see what you accomplish together.
