A Matter Of Taste at Tapawingo Wedding | Kim + Erik | By Luke

Kim + Erik had a unique wedding where they embraced the nostalgia of the area Kim grew up at. “Tapawingo is 5 mins from my family’s cabin where I spent a lot of my time growing up before I moved west… This area is my favorite place in the world and after 5 years of visiting with me every year, now it’s Erik’s favorite place too. He proposed to me on my parent’s dock two summers ago, and we knew this was the only place to exchange our vows and commit to each other forever.”

The morning of the wedding, Kim’s sister led a yoga class for her and her friends and they had coffee both of which were a calming and centering experience. “I got ready on the front porch, taking in my favorite view and watching my cousin’s kids run around in the forest playing with my dog. I felt so lucky to be there with my sister, mom and cousin around me. It was slow and then it went SO FAST! And then it was time to get the dress on and do my first look with Erik. Right as we were about to do our first look I said ‘remember, it’s just me!’ which was a great reminder for me as well. It’s just us.” Erik felt a sense of excitement and peace knowing that this was the exact right place to be. “The moment that stuck out to me was during the ceremony, looking at Kim, feeling all the love from our people and having our great friend, Zander, marrying us. Also when we went out on the boat and were able to look back at the venue, take a moment to process it all, and embrace how lucky we are.”

Family and friends shared their reflections on Kim + Erik as individuals and as a couple which became a very impactful moment for the couple. “There was even a loon behind us for the whole day from when photos started to the end of the ceremony. That loon lives on our lake and flew over for the celebration — I looked up the symbolism of the loon after the ceremony, and a few things that stood out was devotion and divine presence. We think the loon was my grandparents and uncle Peter who were visiting us throughout the whole ceremony.”
