The Homestead Resort Wedding | Virginia + Zac

“The first thing I asked my wife after we got married was… ‘would you like a drink’… she said yes. So I run down to the cocktail bar – (I am the first mind you… sprinting down a hill) I ask for 2 chardonnays and the bartender asked for my ID. I said I don’t have it … I just got married… she said well I need to see ID… and I said no LITERALLY I just got married over there! This would proceed to happen again with the second bartender an hour into cocktails. So, yeah I got carded twice at my own wedding.”

Virginia and Zac’s wedding day was full of endless laughter (like the story above), an abundance of love, and an overflowing amount of smiles. Choosing to get married at the Homestead was an easy decision for the two of them as they were immediately captivated by stunning Lake Michigan and the idea of getting married on top of the mountain.

Zac’s morning began with nerves and a lot of excitement, while Virginia told us “I woke up early, my bridesmaids and I started getting our hair done while we had breakfast and coffee, it felt like a lazy weekend morning filled with excitement.” The relaxed mood of the morning lead beautifully to the two’s first look on the shore. ” I found myself staring at the bluest water I have ever seen, singing the doxology for peace and assurance, and I hear a whisper. Dan the man – ‘are you ready to see your bride?’ He told me to wait for the word’s “turn around.” When I heard them – my thirst turned to overwhelming tears of joy. The beauty set before me was breathtaking.”

Soon it was a quick ride up the chairlift to say their “I do’s!” “Taking the chairlift to the wedding ceremony with my brother was emotional, I was a little nervous but once we started moving and I could hear the music I felt a sense of peace and from then on only felt happiness.” Overlooking the water, with the sun shining, Zac and Virginia promised their forevers to each other in the most heartfelt ceremony. “….the ceremony was incredible – we laughably had a hard time tying the trinity knot which we could hear the laughter and feel the pressure of ‘WE BETTER GET THIS DONE BEFORE THE SONG ENDS.’ It was truly fun to have that private moment to ourselves…. and apparently a “fighter jet/blue angel” flew by… so we were told.” (Yes, that did happen.)

Married, the two headed back down the hill to their reception where they were showered with kind words during speeches. “The maid of honor/best man speeches brought all of us to tears. Hearing such heartfelt kind loving words from our favorite people will always stick with us.” And the rest of the night continued to be one epic party, celebrating all the best things in life – love, family, and unity.

“I know we both felt incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so much LOVE and SUPPORT. We were moments into cocktail hour and people were telling us it was the best wedding they had ever been too. An amazing nod to Virginia and her mad planning skills.”

Zac and Virginia, your love is evident in your smiles, and your joy is contagious! Congratulations on your marriage. May God bless you both.
