“I really loved greeting everyone as they arrived. It was a gift to see the people I love, from throughout my life, all in one place. I also loved seeing how everyone interacted and enjoyed everyone’s company, regardless of whether or not they knew each other when they walked in! It truly felt like we were bringing two communities together.”

Community. Relationship. Love. That’s exactly what Brielan & Charney’s wedding day was all about.

Brielan & Charney opted for a relaxed, nontraditional wedding high atop downtown Traverse City that centered on enjoying the people in their lives rather than the focusing on the traditional wedding rituals. It was a day full of laughter, hugs, and simply bringing people together. And I can’t think of a better way for Brielan & Charney to celebrate their love for each other and for their family and friends than that.

“Because we didn’t do a traditional wedding ceremony, it was important for me to get a moment with each of my parents. When I was in the room getting ready, for a few minutes it was just my mom and me. She has always been a calming presence, and reminds me to take a pause from going through all my lists/plans/hopes/goals/dreams all at once during every minute of the day. Having her there made me feel centered and reflect on how fortunate I am. I also did a first look with my dad before the evening started, since he wasn’t going to be walking me down an aisle. We only had a minute, but getting a hug from him and seeing how happy he was for me made me feel excited and ready for the big adventure!”

Brielan & Charney, you two are something special. Not only do you love your people well, but they love you deeply in return. And I can’t think of anything more beautiful than that. Congratulations on your marriage!
