“Home is where the heart is” describes Lauren + Harry’s special day.

Little girls and their dads share a very special bond and for Lauren, that bond extends well into adulthood. Seeing him for the first time on her wedding day was one of the most emotional moments of all. They have always been especially close and she told her dad he couldn’t sell the house because Lauren dreamed of having her wedding in the backyard one day. Well, they were married in the beautiful Meadow Brook Hall but they held the reception in the backyard. “It was exactly what I envisioned, it was homey and comfortable, fun and entertaining. It was a beautiful way to honor my background and to invite our friends and family to my home.”

The pre- and post- wedding days were almost as exciting as the wedding day itself with so many friends and family, who traveled great distances to be together, coming to celebrate. Lots of laughter and shenanigans were part of each day. Harry and his Best Man, John, even played a show one night to the delight of all the guests. “At times, I was more excited for the days around the wedding than the exact wedding day.” There’s something truly special about being surrounded by the people you love, eating together, preparing meals together, telling stories, playing games, jumping in the lake, and getting to know each other, for some, for the very first time.

Lauren kept her calm until just before she was to walk down the aisle, then the nerves struck! “At that moment, I realized we were standing next to the window with a direct view down the aisle. Peaking out and watching everyone walk down the aisle, getting to see Harry, really put me at ease. I knew this day was going to be exactly what we hoped and dreamed for, and it was my secret because no one knew I was there!”

The wedding day went exactly as planned, the ceremony was one to remember, the reception was decorated down to every beautiful little detail that took months to plan, the guests were having a blast; so many wonderful moments to cherish. But what was the best part of the whole day? In Lauren’s words: “.. looking back on the wedding, I loved being home the most.”
