Historic Barns Park Wedding | Emma + Nick

06/13/2018

Emma and Nick knew they wanted a Michigan wedding, but in an area they had not grown up in. The couple had been to Traverse City before and thought it would be the perfect place to tie the knot. For their friends and family, it would be close enough to travel to, and a fun place for many who have not been to the area before. “We like history of the old hospital and the Grand Traverse Commons area, and once we saw the beautiful inside of the restored Cathedral Barn, we knew it would be the perfect venue. We also liked that the Cathedral Barn is just a stand-alone location, so we would be able to find all the vendors ourselves and personalize each piece of the whole wedding, from decorations to food to music.”

The morning of the wedding brought a calm couple hours of getting ready for Emma. “Throughout the morning, while eating breakfast, getting my hair done with the bridesmaids, and putting my dress on, I gradually became more and more anxious, but then seeing Nick during our first look was a huge relief, and it immediately calmed my nerves”. For Nick, it was all excitement and nerves; but, nothing a walk by himself to reflect on Emma and his life and how special the day was going to be couldn’t fix. And of course, seeing his soon to be wife! Once the two had their first look and were able to spend some time together before the ceremony, they both felt right at home.

The entire day was a special one for the newlyweds, but the ceremony was one of their favorite times throughout the day. “Our friend and officiant Meredith did a great job crafting and performing such a personal ceremony.” A very memorable and intimate time had the couple in tears following. “We both held it together surprisingly well during the ceremony, but once the ceremony ended and we recessed down the aisle, as we passed the last row of chairs and turned the corner, we both immediately broke down in tears.”

Along with meaningful toasts by friends and family, where laughter and tears were combined for a great time. The two also found their father-daughter and mother-son dances to be fun and lighthearted, something they said helped to equalize some of the heavier emotions they were both feeling leading up those moments.

All of the special moments pieced together to be one fantastic day for both Emma and Nick. As they would have it, the day was: personal, emotional, and simply delightful.

Congratulations Emma and Nick! May God bless your marriage.
