Old Mission Peninsula Wedding | Lily + Michael | By Luke

10/24/2017

How do you remember August 5th 2017? Michael remembers it as “Sustained Perfection”, which I think is a pretty good way to remember your wedding day!

For anyone, going back to your roots is a special thing no matter the circumstance, but when you go there to get married, it’s truly something exceptional. “It was my mom’s cherry farm, and I really wanted to get married in a unique place that meant something to my family. Also, it’s pretty hard to beat the beauty of Northern Michigan in the summer, especially on a farm on the lake. I really wanted the friends and family of ours who hadn’t been to Northern Michigan to see it, because it’s such an important part of who I am, I think. Plus now we can visit the place where we got married all the time. Making memories in places is what makes them so special. We’re really lucky to have a place like this in our family where we could get married.”

There’s such a slew of emotions the morning of a wedding. Some people become overwhelmed, but for Lily, “I was really more excited than anything else. Right before the ceremony I got pretty nervous and just wanted to get started! But beforehand I was having a blast getting ready with my friends and playing music and dancing. I was really the most nervous for the actual walking down the aisle part, because I don’t really like being the center of attention in that way, but it went by so fast there was really nothing to be nervous about!” and for Michael, “I was just trying to take things slow that day and have time to relax and get mentally ready. At the beginning of the day I just really wanted to be mentally present and intentional with how I wanted the day to go. Once things started moving, it was just an incredible day. I was nervous before the ceremony started, but once everything was happening I felt really present and just had an incredible day.”

Lily & Michael’s day was non-stop from dawn till dusk (and later), it can be a lot to take in, or it can be a sweet party all day long! “It’s all such a blur! But a good blur. Michael playing the drums. All the speeches, especially my Dad’s. Dancing with all my friends. I also had a really fun time getting ready with the bridesmaids before the wedding. It’s funny, cause it really is all a blur, but there are also moments where I don’t think I’ve ever been more present.”

Lily & Michael, watching the two of you come together as one is a reminder of why we do what we do. Congratulations, and thank you for sharing your moments.
