A quick look: favorite wedding locations in Michigan
Wedding Venues in Northern Michigan
Bay Harbor Yacht Club
An architectural dream and beautiful waterfront wedding venue in Michigan, Bay Harbor Yacht Club takes the luxuries of sailing and turns it into a destination — the breeze off the water, the boats swaying in the wind, the sound of celebration. Here, multiple venue spaces are available like their Promenade Deck (ideal for summer weddings), but the Lange Center Terrace brings the outdoors in with incredible sunset views. They offer a complete set of services with everything except accommodations.
Castle Farms
For those who want to stay close to home, but who can’t decline the opportunity to celebrate in a countryside castle, this Northern Michigan wedding location is a true charmer. They’ve passed their 100-year mark and the facade still reflects its original intention — to exude the character of a stone farm, like those the original owner fell in love with while in Normandy, France. At first, Castle Farms was a working “model” dairy farm to show the state-of-the-art options and now, it’s a 37-acre wedding venue and winery.
It’s easy to get intentionally lost here — transported by the formal gardens, stone archways, towers, water features and ornate chandeliers. There’s room for up to 300 guests and they offer a coordinator for your use in the two months leading up to the wedding. Summer and winter venue options are available, but really, any corner of this property would make for an unforgettable backdrop — be it for a first look, ceremony or getaway car moment.
Grand Hotel
Mackinac Island’s delightfully historic wedding venue and hotel, this location gives you the wow factor with a bright, welcoming style. They even have their own signature flower, a red geranium. Here, you can host up to 450 guests, book some time in at their spa and enjoy a Mackinac Island classic — arriving by horse-drawn carriage. They offer a wedding coordinator, chef and even an orchestra. Spend the weekend relaxing, playing pickleball, or just soaking up the unbeatable views. Their full-service experience at the Grand Hotel takes care of almost everything.
Inn at Bay Harbor
With sprawling lawns, views of the bay, a clean white facade (with a dash of red on the rooftop) and sandy shores — the Inn at Bay Harbor is beautiful and convenient. Stay on site at the resort where golf connoisseurs can tee off at the resort’s one of two golf courses while the rest savor afternoon tea with the lake spread out in a stunning, panoramic style. Bring in a white tent to take it up a notch while maintaining the approachable luxury of a lakefront wedding.
Fountain Point Resort
You can read more about this lakefront Michigan wedding venue here, but for now, know that this is an idyllic setting where you can rent out the entire property. Camp style, but still beautifully designed and easily enjoyed.
Other locations in Michigan
Greencrest Manor
Southern Michigan
An estate wedding venue in southwest Michigan, Greencrest Manor is breathtaking. Built with a French-inspired architectural design, you’ll enter the property’s wrought-iron gates to discover a tree-lined drive, cascading ivy and lush gardens. The whole setting can be yours for an entire wedding weekend, giving you access to overnight suites, verandas (perfect for alfresco dining), and multiple spaces — ideal for getting ready, savoring welcome drinks, playing yard games and more. Essentially, you’ll find the charm of a bed and breakfast, but the decadence of a historic estate and hands-on design and planning team.
Venue3Two
West Michigan
Animal lovers and luxury indulgers alike will be infatuated with Venue3Two. Set on a sprawling horse ranch in the hill country of Western Michigan, this venue is a recently renovated 1920s estate in the Revivalist Tudor architectural style. The vaulted ceilings and light-filled spaces are just the beginning. The best part? All net profits benefit local organizations like the Home of Equine Assisted Development, which provides equine therapy, and organizations that advocate for the end of human trafficking. Here, elegance meets true purpose to create a beautiful wedding experience.
Felt Estate
The Felt Estate rivals War Memorial with its luxurious, secluded environment. The Felt Estate (or mansion as it’s sometimes called) has 12,000 square feet and a romantic history — Dorr Felt built it for his wife, Agnes. With time, though, this remarkable estate fell into disrepair. The current owners have worked carefully with the community to restore its original old-world charm. Now, you and up to 24 guests can stay overnight and then celebrate in the mansion, carriage house or chapel. For the main wedding events, there is room for up to 120 guests indoors and up to 250 in the lawn tent. They have a heart for sustainability and conservation, which can be felt through each aspect of the location and the way they handle events.
War Memorial
Eastern Michigan
This 1910 estate faces the lake, complete with a ballroom that has panoramic views through its floor-to-ceiling windows. This rich setting is unparalleled — envision vows on the stairs just outside as a natural focal point or a traditional ceremony with the lake behind you. The architecture at the War Memorial is sophisticated and the smallest of touches make it easy to feel at home. (I’m a big fan of the library, fountain entrances and water views.
The Ballroom at Mckay
Grand Rapids
Situated in Grand Rapids’ most iconic historic tower, this venue exudes a sense of time honored sophistication. Built in 1925, The Ballroom at Mckay features soaring Doric columns and marble walls, their stark beauty softened by elegant drapery along the walls. The vintage bar is a showpiece of its own, complementing any floorplan that you personalize for your event. And just beyond, the exclusive rook deck access provides a breathtaking vantage point for you and your wedding party to soak up before the festivities begin.
Plantera Conservatory
West Bloomfield Township
Close to Detroit, Plantera Conservatory is a botanical garden venue that offers in-house catering, floral design, rentals and more. Harper’s Bazaar credits them as one of the top 33 garden venues in the world. Expectedly, the setting is always lush, but the environment still feels sleek and modern with glass walls and industrial beams.

Advice for Michigan wedding venues
The location is, of course, always a factor, but think beyond the driving distance from the airport. Is this a setting where you’ll adore spending a day or entire weekend surrounded by loved ones as you set the tone for a marriage together. Start with the simple needs — like guest capacity and style — and then focus on the feeling. Is this a place that you want to look back on for the rest of your life?
